Can you still skip a rock five times across a quiet lake?
Road Adventures wants you to relive those memories of the great outdoors. We know all the best campgrounds. and we’ll share that information with you to help you select the perfect camping spots to meet your expectations for an amazing journey.
FOUR KINDS OF CAMPGROUNDS TO CONSIDER
Many campgrounds in the U.S. are truly destinations in and of themselves. They provide almost everything a traveler could imagine. You’ll find great campsites in beautiful places, of course. But there are five-star activities and amenities in many campgrounds that raise them to resort status. KOA, for example, has designated several campgrounds as resorts because they offer so much to their campers. Resorts make great jumping off points for exploring new territory, but they also have lots to do if you want to stay put for a few days.
Most resorts place a priority on fun for the kids. Many have activity directors on staff to organize games, arts and crafts classes and other fun events. Resorts often have expansive water parks, featuring several pools and high-rise slides. Rollercoasters, theme parks, outdoor concerts and other entertainment add to the experience.
If you have a craving for great cuisine during your travels, and you aren’t in the mood to cook, a resort may well provide it. You can go far beyond snack bar fare at many resort campgrounds that offer a quality restaurant experience.
SO MUCH MORE
Some resorts make their mark catering to adult campers. Fitness centers, spas, 18-hole golf courses, wine rooms, boutiques and salons will attract many adventurers to these campgrounds. There they enjoy being pampered and leave refreshed for the next stop on their journey.
